BUCKWHEAT PORRIDGE

Grechka: Russia's Brown Rice

Just like brown rice may be a staple for a balanced and healthy diet, Grechka (Buckwheat groats) may serve the same purpose. Fed to the donkeys of the Middle East, buckwheat is healthy, delicious and will make strong. You may prepare buckwheat groats just like cooking rice or try this wonderful recipe below.

BUCKWHEAT PORRIDGE RECIPE

Grechnevaya kasha Roasted whole-grain buckwheat is mainly used to make special Russian buckwheat porridge, grechnevaya kasha. The type of buckwheat groats used should result in a fluffy porridge, where the individual grains remain whole and separate.

It is best to look and ask for the right type of buckwheat in Russian or Eastern European specialty stores.

  Whole buckwheat groats

Ingredients

200 ml whole roasted buckwheat groats
butter
½ tsp salt
boiling water

Rinse groats rapidly with cold water. Pour them in a flat and wide casserole dish or oven pan, add a few knobs of butter and sprinkle with the salt. Pour enough boiling hot water into pan to coat the groats, mix gently.

Cover pan tightly with a lid or a piece of foil. Bake the dish, preferably placed in a water bath, at 175 °C for about 1 - 2 hours. Baking gives buckwheat its special, nutty aroma. The steam building inside the pan is an important part of cooking this dish, so you should not remove the cover or stir the mixture during baking.

The porridge is ready when all the liquid has been absorbed into the buckwheat, softening the groats. If not enough water is used, the porridge will dry out and stick or burn on the bottom of the pan. Experiment with different proportions of water and buckwheat to get the right kind of fluffy result. Baking the dish in a water bath also prevents sticking.

Serve porridge with melted butter. Buckwheat porridge may be served as an individual dish for a healthy meal or as a replacement for rice.

Common Cold Cure

Common Cold Cure

Looking for a home remedy for a head cold? Hot feet and Cold socks are just the cure you need for relief from a common cold.

When you are ready to go to bed for the night, try this remedy.

WET SOCKS RECIPE*

Nylon Socks: socks like dad wears to go to the office
Cotton Socks: athletic socks
Wool Socks: big, fluffy, warm, ski socks are perfect

*The socks you chose should come to the bottom of your calf but not cut off your circulation. They can be snug, but if they leave an impression on your skin after removal they are too tight. Stretch out the socks so the fit comfortably. The socks pictured above are not good examples, but they looked pretty ;-)

WET SOCKS PROCEDURE

Step 1: Prepare for bed.

Step 2 (Optional): Soak your feet in a bucket of hot water for 10 minutes.

Step 3: Remove your feet from the hot water, soak nylon socks in cold water, wring them out so they are not dripping and put them on your feet.

Step 4: Cover the nylon socks with your cotton socks.

Step 5: Cover the cotton socks with your wool socks.

Step 6: Good to bed and get some sleep.

When you put all the socks on your feet you should go to sleep. When you sleep, your body will start the 'cook' the wet socks (and your cold) and dry them out. If you can't get to sleep, don't lay in bed with cold socks on your feet (this will not help your cold).

The next morning your cold will be gone. Congratulations! If you feel sniffles by the end of the day, perform the procedure each night until you feel relief.

What Benefits to Expect from Gallbladder & Liver Cleansing

Of course, you may feel nauseous drinking saltwater and the oil/juice mixture (we think it taste like Italian Salad Dressing.) The saltwater will get your bowels moving and open your bile ducts to prevent any pain. You may feel a train of stones traveling along the bile ducts like marbles. See the detailed picture below for help with visualization while you are cleaning.

Expect diarrhea in the morning. Count your stones. They will look like green and tan peas (there are plenty of pictures on the internet if you want to look for them, but we'll spare you here.) The cholesterol inside makes them float. You may also have crystals, sand, and cloudy white residue; all this is usual.

You may repeat this cleanse every two weeks. Don't cleanse while ill or recovering from illness.

Tips for good Gallbladder health
Eat light
Avoid Fat Meat
Avoid Deep Fried Food
Avoid Spicy Food
Avoid Heavy Milk products

One Week Salt Water Cleanse

One Week Salt Water Cleanse

Saltwater cleansing practice purifies the digestive system and draws impurities out of organs inside the body. Salt-water cleanses may be used to treat common colds, high blood pressure (it's important to have salt from a natural source that has not been processed), digestive ailments, fever and degenerative related ailments.

Natural Salt Crystal: Smithsonian Institute
Use non-purified salt for salt water cleansing.

We recommend this inner body cleanse with natural salt prior to spiritual consultations, meditation groups and retreats.

Before starting a new healing program, taking a new herb/vitamin, fasting or changing diet, you need to rid your body of built-up toxins and schlock. Getting rid of the old stuff, will make way for the new program to take effect. How else will you know that a healing program is working if you are just putting new things on top of the old?

NOTE: persons with very advanced forms of ulcer, appendicitis, intestinal tuberculosis, or cancer are recommended not to practice this technique.

Prior to Cleanse
If you have problems with constipation, please clean your bowls with a safe herbal laxative (i.e. senna or garcinia) for one or two days before this cleanse.

During the Cleanse
Avoid alcohol, spicy foods, fried foods and anything rich or heavy during this week of cleansing. You will take your digestive tract back to its childhood state. Feel what would be best to feed a small child and you will know what to eat.

Salt-Water Flush Recipe
2 Quarts (2 Liters) Water - boil to tea drinking temperature
1 Level Tablespoon Natural Salt - from sea or ground
Juice from a Lime/Lemon - if required to offset the taste
16oz (1/2 Liter) Serving Cup
Alarm Clock - set to sunrise for 7 days
Toilet Paper

Salt from a natural source is better for cleaning the body than iodized salt. Sea salt is fine, evaporated salt is fine, and ground-based salt is fine.

Natural Sea Salt: Another possible source (natural) for cleaning during a salt-water flush.

YES!!! You will drink 2 Quarts (2 Liters) in one sitting.

Your Daily Program for Saltwater Cleaning

The organs of the body have open channels in the early morning hours between 5AM and 7AM. This is the best time to drink salt water and a common time in most spiritual practices to perform a morning ritual.

Face the four directions: North, South, East and West.
East for Water
West for Earth
South for Fire, and
North for Air

Ask for blessings, purity, strength and anything you might need. Drink the hot salt water facing the four directions until finished.

When you drink in each direction, feel how the associated element effects your life. Example: Water - "Thank you water. Biological life comes from water, thank you. Humans come from water, thank you. I came from the water of my mother's womb, thank you. I relax in the surf at the beach, thank you. I drink this yummy salt water to heal my body, thank you..."

If you find yourself with a full stomach, even after the first glass, the following exercises will help. The idea is to get the water out of your stomach and into your intestines.
Exercise 1 - Rub your stomach with the palm of right your hand clockwise 21 times and counter clockwise 13 times.
Exercise 2 - Raise your arms over your head (still standing) and sway them left to right.
Exercise 3 - Spread your feet shoulder width apart and spin your body at the waist from left to right. Let your arms swing with your body. Feel the stretch in your lower back and abdomen.
Exercise 4 - With knees and feet together, bend your knees and squat. Reach with your left hand and touch the tip of your index finger to the outside of your right foot. Now try to do both together with your head facing somewhat forward. You should find your left elbow touch the outside of your right knee when you're in the full squat position. This exercise is of course a little (sic) difficult. If too difficult try something else.
Exercise 5 - Doing the Hatha Yoga Cobra Position is also good as are other exercises that get the intestines stimulated.

Results from the Saltwater Flush
What to Benefits to Expect from your Intestinal Cleanse

As with any cleansing program, reactions vary from people to people. You may take more than one hour to drink this much saltwater. After a little practice, most people can drink the water in 30 to 45 minutes. Some people throw up the first glass; keep trying and you'll be glad you did.

You should expect to make trips to the toilet throughout the morning. Some people finish cleaning their bowels in a couple of hours. It may take a little longer during the first few days.

One thing that is very common, is to have LOTS of additional energy and a great appetite. This too may take a couple of days.

Plan to take it easy on the first few days, especially if you have never done any kind of cleansing before (headaches commonly occur during detoxification.) Very soon you will be amazed at the effects on your energy, mood and emotions. Physical cleaning is often connected to a deeper more psychological and spiritual cleaning.

You will be taking your digestive track back to its childhood state and this can be serious work. Eat light (no fried, heavy, spicy food) during the cleanse and do not drink alcohol. Consider what you your feed a 5 to 6 year old child (not McDonald's). When you stop cleansing, watch what you eat and bring your body back to your normal diet slowly.

After the first 7 days, you may choose to continue. During the second week, drink every second day, the third week, drink every third day, the forth week, drink every fourth... until you drink salt water one time in one week for the rest of your life. Or... whenever you feel you need a cleansing.

People over 25 years of age can drink salt water once per week as a laxative and to keep the immune system up to par.

Here is a short exert of the information below:

Other Uses of Apple Cider Vinegar

Other Uses of Apple Cider Vinegar

You can really go wild with this stuff. Pure apple cider vinegar is a simple and safe, natural antibiotic. It may be used on the outside or inside of the body. It may be used on the outside or inside of the body. If used on the outside, full strength is completely safe. If used on the inside, it must be diluted.
Athletes Foot: Four to five days of frequent use on feet will clear the condition. Use it periodically from then on to prevent a return. Works faster than other medication.
Chapped Sore Hands: Any fungus condition on hands or other parts of the body, is quickly corrected with straight vinegar.
Dandruff: Straight vinegar on the head clears dandruff very quickly.
Ring Worm: (on any part of the body): Vinegar often does the job of stopping it. Often stronger methods are necessary. For these occasions, pure peppermint oil works well. If this is not available, a commercial product called "Heet" works very well. The more frequently these products are applied, the faster the condition disappears.
Sore Throat: Vinegar and water—half and half—is an excellent gargle for sore throat and to cut mucus. It is also excellent for canker sores and infections or swellings in the mouth.
Indigestion or Gas: 2 teaspoons of vinegar in a glass of water; may be consumed with the meal or any time afterwards as needed. Use the same amount to stop dysentery or diarrhea—take it every hour until the condition has cleared. However, diarrhea can be very helpful for cleaning and elimination of surplus toxins from the body. Do not be in too big a rush to sop the body’s natural process in the cleansing.
Heartburn / Reflux Recipe: 2 Tablespoons of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, 1/4 teaspoon Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) in 250ml (8oz) water. The idea here is to create a solution with a PH of around 7. Drink and Ahhhh! so much better.
Eye drops: This special formula has been used with most excellent results for many years with absolutely no dangerous side effects when coupled with a change of diet, the reflex work and color therapy. Many cases of glaucoma, cataracts, spots film, and growths of various kinds have completely disappeared. The drops may be applied one at a time to both eyes several times daily. Continue use until the condition is cleared up. Many people have completely overcome the necessity for glasses. In all cases eyes have improved greatly. There are a number of books written on eye exercises; their systems help greatly to bring the sight back to normal. Most people would do well to learn and perform exercises to insure the retention of normal vision.

Formula: 5 parts (measured) distilled water
2 parts best grade of honey
Add just enough apple cider vinegar to tint the water

Mix together and store in a bottle. It need not be refrigerated as contents will not spoil. If eyes are in good condition, keep them that way by regular use as no harm can ever come by using it. It has a strong smarting effect for a moment, then the eyes clear and feel very good after each use. These drops have proven to be superior to most commercial drops. Yes, we know this burns - dilute to tolerable strength.

Household uses of Vinegar
Removing Rust: A vinegar application will loosen a rusted or corroded bolt.
Clearing stopped up sink: pour ½ cup of baking soda down the drain. Add ½ glass vinegar and cover for a minute.
Fresh Flowers: Two tablespoons of vinegar and 2 tablespoons of maple syrup to a quart of water will aid in keeping cut flowers longer.
Streak-free Window Washing: ½ cup of ammonia and 3 tablespoons of vinegar added to each quart of warm water is excellent for washing windows without leaving film or streaks. Using newspaper to do the wiping also helps.

Apple Cider Vinegar with Honey

Apple Cider Vinegar with Honey

Drink apple cider with honey for...

Relaxing Nervous System
Promoting Deep Sleep
Relief of Rheumatism
Relief of Arthritis
Relief of Bone Pains
Relief of Heart Ailments
Relief of Stress
Insomnia
Reacts with Uric Acid in Bones to give relief

Mix organic apple cider with honey and drink at night before going to bed. Great for calming nerves, promoting relaxation and relief of bone related ailments.

Adjust the amount of vinegar and honey for comfort and taste. See our recommended recipe here:

Recipe
250 ml (8 oz) Water - warm enough to melt honey
1 to 2 teaspoons Apple Cider Vinegar (Organic recommended)
1 to 2 teaspoons Honey

Honey comes from flowers and has a very light energy. We recommend honey from flowers that are known to provide support for heart and lungs. Use local honey to help provide relief from allergies and build immunity.

People with Indigestion and Diabetics: When apple cider and honey combine, the chemical formula of each changes. If you have concern about the acid content of apple cider vinegar or the sugar content of honey, you may find that the two working together do not produce negative results. Adjust the amount of vinegar and honey for your own needs.
